A 16 bit non-bussed minicomputer design exhibits significant performance advantages over the popular 8080 microcomputer. The design and operation of this device is discussed. Microcoding is employed only where it is a direct replacement for a needed combinatorial function and microcode formats are kept as simple as possible. Show moreA 16 bit non-bussed minicomputer design exhibits significant performance advantages over the popular 8080 microcomputer. The design and operation of this device is discussed. Microcoding is employed only where it is a direct replacement for a needed combinatorial function and microcode formats are kept as simple as possible. Since it is anticipated that non-direct addressing will be used extensively in the eventual application of teleprocessing, special hardware is committed to this task. The result is a significant speed advantage over typical address calculating schemes. Additional circuitry is provided to allow rapid subroutine entry, exit, and parameter fetching.

This election is significant because 1948 helped give rise to the reemergence of a two-party political system in Florida. It was in 1948 that the Republicans began their long rise out of obscurity. The Dixiecrats and Progressive parties were also active in this campaign. This paper will examine the activities of each of these four political parties within the state during 1948 and attempt to show how this political rebirth contributed to alter Florida politics.

Shorelines exist as an interface between terrestrial and aquatic environments. The condition of a given shoreline has diverse impacts a variety of things such as water quality, spawning grounds, nearby property, and an area’s character. This thesis establishes an inventory of approximately 150 miles of saline shorelines within the greater Jupiter area, categorizes their type and use, and documents changes from 1953 to 2016. The condition of a given shoreline has diverse impacts a variety of things such as water quality, spawning grounds, nearby property, and an area’s character. This thesis establishes an inventory of approximately 150 miles of saline shorelines within the greater Jupiter area, categorizes their type and use, and documents changes from 1953 to 2016. Information was compiled in ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel from a variety of sources including modern and historical aerial photography, zoning maps, water quality reports, and ground-truthing. The largest category of shoreline type was found to be Mangrove (61.9mi, 43%) and the largest use category was Residential (79.5mi, 55%). The study area includes the Loxahatchee River and connected water bodies such as the Intracoastal Waterway and Jupiter Sound from Donald Ross Road to the northern reaches of the Loxahatchee’s North Fork.

Show moreIn the 1980s, confronted by severe problems created by one hundred years of drainage and flood control in Florida, public officials realized a new policy, while continuing to provide flood protection, must protect the environment and wildlife. This involved restoring the natural water flows to wildlife refuges, Everglades National Park, and other wetland areas. New legislation controlling the water supply, water quality, and the wetlands was passed. The Save Our Everglades program proposed to restore the Everglades (the Kissimmee River Basin, Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades) to look and function more as it did in 1900 than in 1983 when the program was initiated. Problems, primarily caused by increasing population and agriculture, continued to thwart restoration efforts.
