Show moreCompetitive theory suggests market challengers embrace either a head-to-head attack or flanking maneuver as alternative strategies to attack the market leader. Our research-in-progress, a threephase systematic research plan of action, will reveal whether Monster Energy drink should convey action sports (head-to-head attack) or academic performance (flanking strategy) in advertising targeting college students to challenge Red Bull, the market leader. Phase I, Content Analysis of Red Bull Advertising, revealed emphasis on action sports. However, Phase II (i.e., secondary, qualitative, and survey research) revealed college students use energy drinks to increase academic performance. Phase III, Experimental Research, estimates the relative persuasive effectiveness of action sports versus academic themes in Monster advertisements. Ho: no different in persuasive effectiveness among action sports, academic performance, and neutral theme (control) on dependent variables (likeability, relevance, intention to buy). Ethical standards were met by using valid scales borrowed from scholarly marketing journals, consent form, and APA standards.

Apologies are often a means to prevent further conflict so that both parties can improve their futures. Apologies quell feelings of anger toward the aggressor and promote addressing the past. When an apology is presented it is a sign that the aggressor is willing to discuss its past with the aggrieved to create a permanent resolution. My research documents and categorizes apologies in civil and international conflict over the last few decades to evaluate an apology’s effectiveness at preventing further conflict. I expect the findings to show that cases in which an apology was offered and accepted by both parties will have a lower level of conflict reemergence than cases in which an apology was only offered or only demanded.

Show moreHolistic care has long been a defining attribute of nursing practice. From the earliest years of its
formal history, nursing has favored a holistic approach in the care of patients, an approach that is grounded in relationship and considers the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. With passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act PPACA and the publication of the Institute of Medicine’s report on the future of nursing, nurses are slated to take on an expanded role in healthcare delivery in the near future. Nurse practitioners, in particular, will be instrumental in filling the gap in primary care availability engendered by the increasing specialization of physician practice and increased access to healthcare made possible by the provisions of the PPACA.
This pilot study used a Content Validity Index CVI, with a convenience sample of experts n8 in Nurse Practitioner care and Holistic Nursing practice, to evaluate the Nurse Practitioner Holistic Caring Instrument NPHCI, a new, investigator-developed measure of the holistic attributes of Nurse Practitioner care. Analysis of CVI responses revealed that the majority of participants were in perfect agreement 1.00 in rating the scale as a whole as ‘content relevant’. In addition, 14 out of 19 instrument items were accorded a perfect score of 1.00. Free-text responses were also solicited in evaluating validity of the instrument. Results from this pilot study indicate that the NPHCI has sufficient validity to render it eligible for use in a larger study, surveying patients on holistic attributes of Nurse Practitioner care.

In drug courts, which is a type of non-adversarial problem-solving court, these members of the courtroom work group work together to enhance the likelihood of drug offenders reducing their substance abuse and future criminal activity. With the growing incarceration rate in the United States, some states have opted to use drug courts as a way to divert offenders away from prisons. In this poster, I present data collected via one drug court observation and film notes discussing the roles, power and ethical standards of drug court officials and how they differ from the traditional adversarial system.

All subjects (11 obese and 10 normal-weight) performed 30 minutes of treadmill exercise at 75% maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max). Blood samples were collected prior to, immediately following exercise, and one hour after exercise. Our results showed higher baseline levels of calprotectin in obese subjects than normal-weight subjects. While acute aerobic exercise increased an elevation in calprotectin and IL-6, no difference was found between two groups. Furthermore, a positive relationship was observed between calprotectin area-under-the curve “with respect to increase” (AUCi) and IL-6 AUCi, even after controlling for cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2max). Our results support previous finding that IL-6 may potentially regulate calprotectin expression in skeletal muscle during exercise.

With 1.4 billion people today, China still has attained the status of the largest oil importer in the world, and this correlates with their surpassing the US in automobile sales. Nations often face difficult challenges in deciding how to balance development goals with other factors. This poster will demonstrate the importance of an expanded scope of factors in weighing these decisions.

In the literature, there are numerous implications as to what this morphing definition means to businesses and how businesses should react in order to stay competitive in a society that is hyper stimulated. Research into what defines an experience and the impact this definition has on business is vital because in order for businesses to offer innovative experiences they need to understand what an experience is and the role it plays in the success of their organization. Furthermore, a deep understanding of what comprises an experience and how to manipulate those elements to create a unique and targeted experience are tools a company could use to reinvent itself, change its brand meaning, and rewrite its marketing strategy.
The evolution of marketing and branding has taken an exponential leap since technology changed the way society functions. A wide breadth of literature is dedicated to virtual experiences and internet based branding and marketing advances. In addition to virtual experiences, this paper will also explore the success of experience based brands such as Disney and Lexus. The implications of this success have gone beyond name brands and into niche markets. Finally, the paper will explore the implications these findings have for managers. Our hypothesis is that marketing and delivering a complete experience is more vital in the modern business world than it used to be.

The alliance was measured using the Working Alliance Inventory (WAI) for both the clients and therapists. By using this measure in therapist-client dyads, we are able to evaluate the influences that cultures have on the overall therapeutic alliance. The results of the research can be used to show the importance of multicultural competence in counseling relationships in order to provide the best outcomes for culturally diverse clients.

There are several ways to reduce pain in the patient including, but not limited to: swaddling, breastfeeding, Kangaroo Mother Care method, oral glucose, and lullaby music. The Kangaroo Mother Care method and oral glucose are some of the more effective pain management tools used during the Guthrie test in preterm infants.
