Thi s study consists of a descriptive phonological analysis of the Spanish of Tampa, Florida. Selected segmental features are then compared with those of the Castilian of Asturias and Galicia, as well as with present-day Cuban Spanish. The predominant influence in the phonology of Tampa Spanish is determined to be Cuban, rather than the Castilian of Asturias or Galicia spoken by many of the early settlers of Tampa.
