The audience, to whom this discourse was addressed, will perceive, that it differs, in some places, from what they heard from the desk. To explain the reason of this, they are reminded, that the discourse, as delivered to them, was the second of two, originally designed for the students of Yale College; and that it was preached in the Brick Church, instead of the college chapel, at the request of the Rev. Doctor Dana. As it referred in several places to the former discourse, it became necessary to alter and enlarge it, when the design of publishing it was formed, that the obscurity arising from those references might be avoided."--Page [2]. FAU Libraries' have two copies, both appear to have been trimmed.
