Note(s): Inland shrimp production in low salinity water can be a cost-effective alternative to reduce crop losses to disease outbreaks. In addition, negative environmental impact can be minimized because effluent water can be used for crop irrigation. This paper describes the management practices used by inland production facilities for Litopenaeus vannamei in the U.S. (Arizona, Texas and Florida) and Israel.
