Note(s): The Research Vessel John Elliot Pillsbury of the University of Miami obtained a small collection of porcellanid crabs during five cruises over a 3-year period from 1968 to 1971 throughout the Caribbean Sea below 20°N latitude. The material consisted of 195 specimens divided into 7 genera and 13 species, all of well known littoral or sublittoral forms. While no new species were recorded, several gaps in distributional and ecological knowledge were filled, and a range extension is reported for Petrolisthes cessacii (A. Milne Edwards, 1878) previously known only from a small area on the western coast of Africa, and a single published record from Brazil.
