Note(s): This paper compares several high compression transforms with regard to image quality and summarizes accomplishments toward new algorithm development. The implementation of a high performance, image compression transform using a dedicated DSP processor and supporting computer host is described with emphasis on computational efficiency. Example performance measures are presented for non-acoustic undersea images.
