Note(s): The present technology for pond production of shrimp is adequate for commercial operation in areas having a year-round growing season. Improved technology for the growout phase could be beneficial, as most of the capital and production costs are associated with cultivation of marketable shrimp from postlarvae. This is particularly true in temperate regions where multiple crops per year are difficult using presently available technology.
