Note(s): A new species of the sea-star genus Echinaster is described from shallow-water seagrass and oyster beds of the west coast of Florida. The new species and E. spinulosus Verrill are sibling species, morphologically distinguished only by spination and differences in the secondary skeleton. The two species also differ in coloration and in many physiological, reproductive, and ecological characteristics.
