A new species of the amphipod genus Gammaropsis, G. sutherlandi, encountered during ecological studies of the amphipods of the estuaries of North Carolina, is described here. The new species appears closely related to Gammaropsis maculata (Johnston) 1827. This manuscript is an author version with the final publication available and may be cited as: Nelson, W. G. (1981).
