Note(s): Megalobrachium poeyi was one such morphologically inseparable conspecific. But laboratory-cultured larvae from adults of eastern Pacific and western Atlantic populations exhibited several important morphological differences. This prompted re-examination of adults from both sides of Panama revealing that M. poeyi consisted of an eastern Pacific and a western Atlantic species.
