Note(s): The sampling system consists of a portable peristaltic pump, a sampling line, a filter holder, a sample jar and a Teflon in situ pore water sampler. Each component can be rigorously cleaned and sealed prior to use in the field. Laboratory tests showed that the sampling system contributed no detectable trace metal contamination to the sample. Iron analyses had a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4-14% and 5-18% for analysis of manganese in estuarine field tests.
