Note(s): Sheepsheads (Archosargus probatocephalus)were spawned in the laboratory by three methods:wild running-ripe adults were strip-spawned; a femaleheld in captivity for I year was induced to ovulate withtwo injections of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG)and was strip-spawned; and two wild females were inducedto ovulate with one or two injections of HCG,after which they spawned voluntarily in a 10,000-L tank.Laboratory-reared sheepsheads reached sexual maturity within 2 years.
