An extract of an Aspergillus sp. (HBOI strain D245) was found to inhibit guanosine diphosphate/G-protein RAS exchange (GDPX). Bioassay-guided purification led to the isolation of linoleic acid (1). 1 gave significant inhibition in the GDPX assay, while methyl linoleate (2) was inactive.
