Summary:: The Ratz! is made up of five members of the Jazz Rats Big Band, an ensemble-in-residence at FAU. The Jazz Rats Big Band was formed in 1995 by faculty members Jamie Roth and Tim Walters in order to have a professional group read their compositions and arrangements. It has been an ensemble-in-residence at the University since its inception. Concerts were given in the spring of 1996 and 1997, and during the summer of 1997, the group started to perform regularly in South Florida jazz clubs.
