Summary:
The primary purpose of this study was to identify and classify those competencies considered necessary and/or desirable fer community school coordinators to be effective in their role. Secondary purposes were to determine if there was consensus among respondents regarding the identified competency statements and to establish which competencies were thought to be the most important to the effectiveness potential of the coordinator. Respondents selected to participate in this study were identified from five major groups of individuals involved in the community education process in the State of Florida. The groups were identified by t heir role of: (1) community school coordinator; (2) building level administrator; (3) public service ·agency representative; (4 ) community school advisory council member; and (5) program participant.
