Two columns to the page. On final page: "Anti-abolition Tracts" advertisement, that includes such publications as 'Free Negroism' by the Copperhead publisher Van Evrie, Horton & Co. As the Democratic candidate for the governorship of New York against J.S. Wadsworth, H. Seymour claims to support the Civil War but blasts Republican incompetence and the rumored Emancipation Proclamation, calling for a policy of conciliation towards the Southern states, a rejection of the Abolitionist cause.
