This is the first article in a two part series examining technological innovations in broadcasting over the internet. The potential applications of IP Simulcast for use in web based broadcasting as well as that of radio and television are examined. Other applications might include distance learning, web based software upgrades, real-time broadcasting of critical data, and file transfers. With an efficient and inexpensive initial cost to cover server fees and network bandwidth IP simulcast technology is examined as the new internet broadcast technology. This manuscript was is the first part of a two part article ©1998 IEEC. Personal use of this material is permitted.
